Do not love the world or anything in the world, if anyone loves the world the love of the Father is not in him. For everything in the world – the cravings of sinful man, the lusts of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does – comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever.
1 John 1: 15-17
This is a hard season (literally) for me. A few years ago we found out that rain water was not being directed away from our house like it should, and if we did not fix it – soon we would end up with foundation problems. So for the last 2 years we added a couple of feet of dirt around the perimeter of our home, add retaining walls on the back of our home (because of the previous statement, we had to remove our deck stairs, and then build new ones), added on a concrete slab with a slant.
This summer we have gotten to do the fun stuff, like adding pretty edging stones, rock, flowers, etc. Oooh… such a slippery slope. I want to just keep adding (and buying) more stuff to make the yard pretty…. like a new patio umbrella, a new fence around the garden (this was is a need and not a want, right?), more pretty flowers, more edging stones. It could just keep going, and going. Sigh.
It is not what we have done is bad, and I we needed to do the work on our home for upkeep. However, the part that I need to work on is, I haven’t even stopped and appreciated what we have accomplished, I just keep looking toward the next project. Oh, boy, just pray for me.
Well now that we had a bible verse and discussion on excessiveness, (oh, the irony 🙂 )lets move on to our Friday Favorites shall we??
Favorite Summer Food: Beef Street Tacos. There is something about simple street food that just screams summer to me. Along with food trucks…. because food trucks are awesome.
Favorite DIY: Vintage Spoon Chandelier. So I might have to create something similar to this, because this is so cool. The below two pictures were runners up, they are pretty stinkin spiffy too. If I thought I was talented enough, I might even attempt to make the exploding dish chandelier, but that would just end with things breaking and tears.
Favorite Jam: Move (Keep Walkin’). I can not hear this song enough, super fun!
Favorite Savory: Garlic Butter Roasted Carrots. will eat my veggies everyday of the week, if these were sitting in front of me. Yum! P.S. I don’t even like cooked carrots.
Favorite Easy DIY: DIY Twine Lantern. So… these are happening this weekend. I even have all the supplies, except for balloons. Yup, this is happening… kinda excited.
Favorite Verse: Encouragement. If God calls us to something, we will not fail. How awesome is that???
Favorite Travel: Trunk Bay, St. John. My bags are packed, lets roll! Who’s with me??
And lastly, here are some funnies to start your Friday right. Take care.
