Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we all are members of one body.
Ephesians 4: 25
Man, oh man. I was tested similarly to this verse just a few days ago. After finishing up grocery shopping, I was loading kiddos and groceries into the car. While putting groceries into the car, I asked my four year old to go ahead and get in the car and get buckled up. The next thing I heard was a thunk, my son, had opened up the car door like I had asked him to do and got in his car seat and buckled up. Oblivious to the fact, that when he opened the door, he pinged the car parked next to us.
I am not going to lie, I had to sit there for a minute to decide on doing the right thing (and then had to Google, because I wasn’t actually sure to do in that situation).
After I put a note on the person’s car with my insurance info, I actually felt relieved that I made that decision. Even if it makes my insurance go up, I can sleep with a clear conscience and know I am teaching my kiddos how to treat others as well.
It is a slippery slope daily how we decide to treat the people around us… Now if I could just start making ethical decisions about cookies…
The unofficial start of Summer has arrived! Woot, woot! A fun three day weekend packed full of family, fun, and food. But with that, remember to take a moment and remember the reason for Memorial Day. Take care friends, have a blessed weekend.
Favorite Memorial Weekend Food: Ultimate Red Skinned Potato Salad (Mayo Free). Because what says grilling out (besides the main dish) more than potato salad + plus this has bacon in it… and by now I think you know how I feel about bacon. 🙂
Favorite Indulgence: Ferrero Rocher Cake. If someone would like to make this and drop this by my house, that would be great. I miiight even let you have a slice.
Favorite Craft: How to Make Moss Graffiti. I keep seeing this type of post all over Pinterest, and I along with the rest of people is getting sucked into how cool moss is. I keep thinking there is no way this will work this nicely… this will most definitely be a Pinterest fail… but I keep coming back to it. I might have to give this a try.
Favorite Home Style: Sliding Barn Door with Chalkboard. Oh fads, how I hate thee. I get sucked in. I can’t help it. A barn door + Chalkboard wall. Hook, line, and sinker.
Favorite Breakfast: Buttermilk Blueberry Breakfast Cake. Almost paradise, how could we ask for more…. I love how in the name it tells you, you are allowed to eat this cake for breakfast, ha! Is there any better combination (besides chocolate with anything, of course) than blueberry and lemon. I think not.
Favorite Uplifting Message: The Lord is Close to the Brokenhearted. Such a beautiful verse, and so good to remember.
Lastly, here are some pics to put a smile on your face for this Friday morning, with an animal theme.
I shared with you that we recently have gotten two rats. We had an accident, we are down to one. But that little guy really pulls on my heart strings. Get rid of every preconceived notion you have of rats, they are one of the sweetest pets ever.
And this would be my dogs…
This one just put a smile on my face.
Kinda makes your day not seem so tough, huh?
