6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, 7 casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you. 8 Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 9 But resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brethren who are in the world. 10 After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you.
1 Peter 6-10
Hi my name is Leesa and I am a sugar addict. There is no moderation in my life when it comes to sugar. If there cookies, cake, or candy in the vicinity I will sniff it out.
I have went sugar free for a month here or there in the past. And then decided to go back and live with “moderation”. (Anybody that is reading this and can do moderation a.k.a. be able to leave a bag of Hershey Kisses in your freezer for a month…. then skip the rest of this post and move onto the delicious recipe at the bottom of the screen, thank you.)
Sugar and I have talked, we have had some deep conversations, we have fought, he will always be a deep love of mine, but I think it is time for us to break up. I have let sugar control my life for too long.
It is time to Poop or get off the pot… I am done struggling with this. But I can’t do this on my own. God is going to have to take this, this is my Achilles heel – my biggest weakness. In the past I never brought this before God. Because come on, there is BIG stuff out there; the sick, the hungry, the lonely. Who am I to ask God to help me not eat that doughnut? But isn’t this how satan works? He sneaks into those small crevices – those places where we are weakest; it’s OK to have that cookie, it’s alright to have one more glass of wine, go ahead and grab that Powerball ticket – he prey’s on weakness, and then tells us it OK, no big deal. But what happens? We beat ourselves up, and each time we have a little less self confidence.
And all those awesome plans God has laid out in front of you – maybe starting a prayer group, or helping with a soup kitchen. You tell yourself, who am I to do those things? I can’t even maintain a healthy food relationship, I can’t even remain responsible with my drinking, etc. He doesn’t want you to lift these “small’ things to God, because ya know what? You lift them up to God, he will give you what you need to be able to overcome your weaknesses and serve him. Is that awesome or what? I just got a little giddy! There is so much relief in that, give it to him and he will take your struggle, it is no longer your burden to bear.
Lets clear the air up real quick. Food is not evil, I personally do not think alcohol is evil, the internet is not evil, but when we turn it into something self damaging, it becomes evil. We all have at least one area that we are weak in, that may seem paltry, but is probably affecting your relationship with God, your family, and/or yourself.
So here I am laying it all out there guys. Recipes will remain delish but with little refined sugar. Outside of that, that is all I know. And NO, recipes will not be centered around tofu, and bean sprouts. ? I’m ready to take that step, who’s with me? (Crickets chirping….) OK, well we can work on it.
